Congratulations to SRF Researcher Richard Stephens of Cambridge University Engineering Department – on winning the Head of Department’s prize for the 2016 Zeiss Phototgraphy Competition.
Richard’s winning entry to the competition was a video studying aerodynamic drag on heavy vehicles by using water to visualise flow and examine partical image velocimitry.
The research was carried under the SRF Aerodynamics Project, with results contributing to the design of modifications made to 12 Waitrose Trucks; which achieved a 7% reduction in fuel consumption during in-service testing.
