Professor Michael Sutcliffe

Michael Sutcliffe is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Cambridge University. He completed his PhD at Cambridge University on tribology in metal rolling in 1988. After working for the metals processing company Davy McKee, he returned to Cambridge University as a post-doctoral researcher in the field of composite materials and then as lecturer. Michael has been conducting research in the fields of tribology, composites and biomechanics with over 100 journal publications. His research activities in composite materials has focussed on the interaction between material properties, structural design and processing, leading several recent multi-partner teams from industry and academia in EPSRC projects in this area. He has also completed a project on the tribology of tyre-road interaction, working with Jaguar Land Rover and Goodyear.
