Dr Dhanan Utomo

Dhanan is Assistant Professor at Heriot Watt University in the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight, focusing on the application of operational research methods, especially agent-based modelling and simulation, on logistics and supply chains. His work explores the least cost solutions to decarbonise logistics systems using agent-based models for urban and long-haul logistic operations. He is interested in developing methodologies to elicit real-world actor’s decision rules, which he is pursuing by developing a special survey method called scenario-based questionnaire and role-playing games methods. These methods are being tested in the case of agri-food supply chain in Indonesia. Dhanan took his Masters in Management Science from Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia, and his PhD in Management Science from Lancaster University Management School
