Agnessa Spanellis is an Assistant Professor of Systems Thinking at Heriot-Watt University, the coordinator of the Gaming research group, and a member of the Research Centre for Logistics and Sustainability, leading research on gamification for sustainable behaviour. The theme throughout her research work is gamification. Her research is focused on gamification as a new approach that can transform working practices in an organisation, e.g., by helping companies to transform into learning organisations and become more innovative. Her other major area of interest includes the ways in which gamification can improve social and environmental sustainability, including sustainable individual behaviour, sustainability within communities and at the societal level. She has worked on a number of projects focusing on sustainable transportation, including drivers’ eco-driving behaviour and sustainable transportation choices. She has recently published an edited volume on Gamification for Societal Transformation. Dr Christa Searle is an assistant professor in the area of operations management and logistics at Heriot-Watt University and forms part of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight. She received her doctorate in Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University in 2019 where she previously served as lecturer and researcher. Her research interests are within the fields of logistics, sustainability and behaviour modelling with the application of operations research, computer simulation modelling and data analytic techniques. Christa is also involved in the teaching of Business Analytics and Big Data Analytics courses. |
