Human resources tool could help employers prepare for digital twinning

Dr Muhammad Shujaat Mubarik, a researcher with TransiT and an Associate Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh Business School, is leading the development of a tool to help organisations and their human resources teams get ready for the wider use of digital twinning technologies.

Last month (January 2026), TransiT issued a news release about a human resources tool being developed by our researchers that could help employers prepare for digital twinning. This secured coverage in titles including Personnel Today, FM Business Daily, Motorship, DIGIT and Scottish Business News.

TransiT hosts freight industry leaders at prestigious stakeholder event in London

Professor Phil Greening, Deputy Director of the Centre of Sustainable Road Freight and Programme Lead for TransiT, presenting at TransiT’s stakeholder engagement event at the London headquarters of infrastructure software specialist, Betley Systems.

In December, TransiT hosted logistics industry leaders, sustainable freight experts, energy operators and government partners at a stakeholder engagement event in London at the UK headquarters of infrastructure software specialist, Bentley Systems. Around 60 industry guests took part, including Connected Places Catapult, DFDS, Royal Mail, Welch Group, NESO, Port of Dover, Digiflec, DNV and Jacobs. Social posts and photos of the event are available on TransiT’s Linkedin channel.

Heriot-Watt logistics experts address sustainable road freight event

Dr Aghdas Badiee, a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight and one of Heriot-Watt University’s presenters at the 12th International Workshop on Sustainable Road Freight.

Also in December, our logistics experts at Heriot-Watt University and TransiT took part in the 12th International Workshop on Sustainable Road Freight, hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight. The delegation spoke on topics including the need to collaborate across different transport modes on decarbonisation solutions, bringing electric charging infrastructure to remote ports and optimising last mile delivery logistics.

Zero Emission Truck event welcomes Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop MSP

Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Fiona Hyslop MSP, addressing the Zero Emission HGV event hosted by Transport Scotland, Scotland’s national transport agency, in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight.

In November, our Centre for Sustainable Road Freight researchers welcomed Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Fiona Hyslop MSP, to a freight decarbonisation event jointly hosted with Transport Scotland, Scotland’s national transport agency. This showcased our team’s research to identify where Scotland most urgently needs charging points for electric heavy goods vehicles.
